“Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party.” That’s all I remember from typing class. Yes when I was younger I took a typing class and had a typewriter. I love old type writers, not the electric ones, the ones that you really had to push hard on the letter to raise the arm to hit the ribbon to imprint the paper. I think I just like the knowing how the processes worked and the permanence of it, the intent. You had to know what you were doing, there was no spell check, not going back and removing a single word. If you made an error or wanted to make a change you had to retype the entire page.
It’s been a little over a month since my last post. I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus. It hasn’t been intentional but I guess just something I needed. That’s how things happen some times. When my friend Bob takes a hiatus which technically for him is a sabbatical, he has a plan, a mission, a goal. I didn’t have a plan. I still don’t have a plan but here’s what I’ve done. Almost nothing. I shouldn’t say nothing, but little writing. Sure I’ve Tweeted a time or two (JulieKComic) and written a couple new jokes but I haven’t made that dent in the novel or my other project or the house keeping or the three year plan. I have done some shows, kept to my running routine, lost the weight I put on over the last year or two, settled into the new job and painted the shed but the hiatus is over. I have to get back to work.
So as I head back to full time full speed ahead, the only way to get anywhere, I have a plan, a schedule, intent. I Tweeted this week that if you have a plan B then your plan A sucks. It’s true. No fall back, no excuses. Plan A it is, and plan A it will be. l will not go back and retype the pages.
